Our History

In 1995, Directors Joy and David Scadden, launched Sunny Days with a simple vision: to provide the best quality childcare for children in Dorset. Some years on and with grown up children of their own, who also play an integral part in running the business today,  they have created what they set out to do with two ‘extraordinary’ high-quality nurseries in Dorchester and Bridport. With experienced teams working to provide learning with endless fun, encouragement and happiness, the nurseries offer children the best opportunity to flourish in a secure and safe environment. “We always knew a simple vision wouldn’t be so in practice,” comments Joy, who is also an NVQ Assessor, IQA, and adult teacher. “I was concerned with finding the very best carers for children in our nurseries, this resulted in us recruiting enthusiastic, caring people and training them ourselves.”

Aimee Scadden joined the Sunny Days childcare team in 2007 whilst studying for her NVQ level 3 in childcare. Over the last 12 years Aimee has worked her way up from a student to the business manager based in our Dorchester site.

Luc Scadden first joined Sunny Days as a toddler in 1995 when Sunny Days first opened. Luc returned  in 2017 as an apprentice working in the preschool team and has now taken on an administrative role incorporating a strong focus on customer care.

We sum up our values for our staff, parents and children easily in 3 words:

We can only learn when we are happy - smiling communicates happiness and is infectious

We promote learning, being open to change, resilience and high expectations in our nurseries – it is important to drive forward in life

Safety is paramount in our nurseries…
