At Sunny Days, we believe that looking after children starts with looking after the people who care for them. That’s why all Sunny Days staff receive free private healthcare, with full Vitality Plus cover from Vitality Health, as part of their employment package.

This comprehensive healthcare and wellbeing benefit is designed to support both physical and mental health, giving you peace of mind, access to support when you need it, and encouragement to build healthy habits in a way that fits around real life.

What this means for you

Following successful completion of your probation period, you’ll have access to private healthcare support – without long waiting times or unnecessary stress.

Vitality Plus helps you understand your health better, spot potential issues early, and make positive, manageable changes over time.

You can access a Vitality Healthcheck each year, including key measures such as blood pressure, cholesterol, BMI and glucose levels – helping you build a clearer picture of your overall health.

The plan includes tools and resources that support stress management, mindfulness and mental health, recognising that wellbeing is about more than just physical health.

Earn points for everyday activities such as walking, exercising, attending health check-ups or practising mindfulness. As points build, you move through Vitality status levels, unlocking higher-value rewards and discounts related to fitness, wellbeing, food and lifestyle.

A Sunny Days Story:

Melissa’s Journey

Sunny Days Melissa high fiving a small child wearing pink wellies

Melissa joined Sunny Days straight from school as a Level 3 apprentice, keen to begin her career in Early Years and gain hands-on experience from the start.

“I wanted to start learning straight away in a real setting, and an apprenticeship felt like the right step for me.”

She began in the baby room and worked across different rooms during her apprenticeship, gaining experience and confidence along the way, supported by senior staff and managers.

“There was always someone to learn from. I felt supported day to day, and that gave me the confidence to keep developing and see what I was capable of.”

As her experience grew, so did her opportunities. Melissa progressed into senior roles, became Toddler Room Supervisor and SENCO, and later stepped into leadership as Deputy Manager.

“The progression felt natural. Sunny Days recognised my strengths and supported me to take on more responsibility, giving me the tools and encouragement to move forward.”

Now as Deputy Manager, Melissa enjoys balancing time with the children alongside supporting staff and apprentices.

“I love still being room-based and working with the children, but also helping staff grow and supporting them to give children and families the best possible experience.”

When asked what she would say to someone considering an apprenticeship at Sunny Days, her answer is simple:

“Go for it. If you’re passionate about working with children and willing to learn, Sunny Days is a place where you’ll be supported to grow and build a real career.”
